The Sims Cheats, Codes, Tips + Tricks

Image
I became addicted to "The Sims" computer games way back in the 90's when "SimCity" made you the mayor and charged you with building roads, developing communities, and putting out fires from a bird's eye point of view. The makers at Electronic Arts have come a long way since then -- "The Sims" was released at the beginning of 2000, and this time you controlled the residents who lived in SimCity. You'd start with creating a Sim, choosing it's name, age, gender and astrological sign, giving it a husband or a child and then either moving the family into a pre-made home or buying a plot of land and building one yourself. Once settled, you would start playing God, decreeing when your Sim would work, sleep, call for pizza and use the bathroom. It was wonderfully addictive. "The Sims" was an instant success, and it spawned dozens of expansion packs such as "The Sims: Hot Date", "The Sims Vacation" and ...

What is lemon law?

Image
LEMON LAW The word lemon was used in the 1800s to describe sour or unfriendly people. In 1909, the word lemon was a synonym for a "worthless thing" in the slang sense, and today it refers to defective or broken things or things which break constantly such as computers, cars, boats, motorcycles, and wheelchairs. The federal lemon law provides a remedy for American citizens who purchase cars but fail to meet standards of performance and quality. In most states, lemon law covers used or leased cars and the rights of consumers may exceed the warranties in the purchase contracts. If you think you have a lemon or breach of warranty case, you need to contact an experienced lemon law attorney in your state to handle the case because the definition of a lemon varies from state to state. For example, motorcycles are covered in some states and excluded in others. The initial consultation to determine whether you have a case or not ought to be free of charge, therefo...

Install Ubuntu 10.04 On A Windows Partition With WUBI

Image
Installing Ubuntu on a Windows partition means that you are performing an install of Ubuntu on an existing Windows partiton as opposed to installing one on a new Linux partition which is more difficult and risky to do. It's a case of which one is safer for a Linux newbie. ;) On a technical knowhow needed of 1 to 5, with 1 being the easiest and 5 being the hardest, this is definitely a 1, as all you have to do is to click. No need terminal commands, as was the case in the past. If Linux has put you off because you previously failed miserably installing or configuring it, you should look at it again now with new eyes. ;) I have the whole installation process documented here minus some boring screens in-between. Scroll downwards to the pictures and have a look at how easy it is. See? It is no longer as scary as before! :D What is WUBI? WUBI stands for "Windows-based Ubuntu Installer" and comes standard on the Ubuntu Desktop CD. Requirements: OS: Win...

How do Secured Loans Work?

A secured loan is just a generic term for a specific type of loan. It is “secured” because it gives the lender some sort of security that it will be repaid (other than the personal promise of the person who takes out the loan). If you are issued a secured loan, you are putting up property as collateral. This means that if you do not repay the loan, the lender is entitled to take the property to ensure that they get their money back. (Since you need property to apply for or receive a secured loan, it is also sometimes known as a “homeowners loan”.) One reason that people apply for secured loans, as opposed to other types of loans, is that secured loans usually carry a relatively low interest rate. This is because from the bank’s perspective the risk of issuing the loan is greatly decreased, as you are putting up collateral. Since risk and loan interest rates are directly proportional, lowering the bank’s risk tends to lower the interest rate of the loan. Of course, with...

What is Employee Leasing?

Image
Smaller companies looking to expand their workforce may be comfortable with the technical side of the hiring process, but not the human resource side. Business owners often find themselves overwhelmed by all the payroll accounting, record keeping and benefits which accompany newly hired employees. One popular solution to this problem is the practice of employee leasing . Employee leasing is similar to the process of hiring temporary workers, but the key difference is permanency. A company wishing to pursue employee leasing will first contact a professional employment organization (PEO) to discuss its particular employment needs. The PEO or other employment leasing company might set up an interview process for recruiting new staff, or might take responsibility for existing workers. The company can still participate in the hiring process, but any hired personnel will officially work for the employee leasing company. For many employees, the switch from thei...

How Does Lemon Law Work

Image
Why a Lemon Law? The purpose of all consumer protections, such as the lemon law, is to create trust in the marketplace by eliminating gross fraud and unfair warranties. The existence of substandard merchandise is negative for consumers, who receive faulty goods, as well as for manufacturers, who often stake their reputation on the performance and reliability of their products. Lemon laws protect both sides by clearly defining what constitutes a lemon and how consumers can be compensated for faulty goods. The lemon laws are a specific subset of broader consumer protections that deal specifically with problem vehicles. What is a Lemon? Most people know a lemon when they have one--a new car that for some reason doesn't perform the way it should and that no amount of repairs seem to correct. With all the cars that are manufactured, some are inevitably just bad and never meet expected standards. But legal definitions of a lemon are crucial fo...
